While tags are great to organize your font library into categories, they are limited in the amount of information you can store.

Sometimes you may want to explain more about how or why a particular font is used. Or you’d like to remember where you saw a font used on a website, poster, movie or book cover.

Now you can store all your comments in the new Notes field. Write down interesting information about a font’s history, list relevant links for inspiration or add snarky remarks about the looks of a single glyph that clearly doesn’t match the other glyphs at all. At all!

Navigate to the Info tab and scroll down to view the Notes field. You can enter any text you like, no judging. Links will be highlighted automatically and will open your browser on click.

Notes are attached to a single font style, but if you view any other style in a family the notes from family members will show up as well for your convenience. That allows you to quickly edit the notes of other styles or neatly consolidate separate notes into one.

You can easily find back fonts with your comments using the search field. Searching for notes is enabled by default — to adjust the search scope follow these steps:

Click on the search field
Click on the ⋯ button
Enable or disable Search Scope > Notes

Want to display your notes in the overview list?

Choose View > as List from the main menu
Right click (or Control-click) on a column header
Enable Notes from the context menu

The overview list also includes a new Last Activated column. This allows you to view when a font was last activated. You can find this information in the Info detail tab and in the right click context menu.

Sort fonts by last activation date to find back the font you’ve used recently. To do that choose View > Sort by > Last Activated from the main menu.
